Leicestershire County Council

Leicestershire County Council provides social care services to adults and children in Leicestershire, who are assessed and in need of support.  Including support for carers who are looking after relatives and friends.  Areas include:

A full range of products from walking sticks and back supports to stairlifts as well as a wide range of popular and standard mobility equipment. Ableworld also has a "Specialist Division". This is where clients require "bespoke" or "made to measure" mobility equipment which requires a high level of technical knowledge and back up.

The Action Deafness centre provides comprehensive range of services to deaf and hard of hearing people in Leicester and Leicestershire. Information for certain client groups such as older people, people with learning difficulties, Asian etc. British Sign Language and Asian languages spoken.

Action on Hearing Loss is the new name for RNID.  The website offers a range of services and products for people who are deaf or hard of hearing.

Transcription Services

Adept provides a transcription service for organisations and individuals.  They transcribe text to alternative formats such as Audiocassette and CD, Large Print, Braille and Easy Read.

Anchor

Anchor helps older and disabled homeowners manage their properties with repairs and improvements so they can remain in their own homes for longer. They also help people to find accommodation that is more affordable, or less work to look after.

cant wait card

The Toilet Card is issued to individuals who have a medical condition and need to use a toilet urgently. The card holder may be able to use staff toilets or nearest toilet when there are no public toilets available.

The Blue Badge Scheme provides parking concessions for people with severe walking difficulties, who travel either as drivers or as passengers.
