Guide to CareOnLine
Finding your way around
Leicestershire CareOnLine contains information specifically for older and disabled people. This information is organised in lists much like 'Yellow Pages'.
To begin your search, select a blue category button such as Carers from the homepage. Depending on the category button you have selected you will either find a set of sub category buttons giving you more choices or a page listing useful sources of help and advice.
Within the listing's page, in the two columns, you will find 'links' to external websites or ‘links’ to pages within CareOnLine, opening in a new window. You can identify a link by seeing if the words under the small picture (or logo) are underlined. If they are underlined select the picture or words and you will be taken to the relevant website.
As you read or ‘scroll’ down the listing's page you may find that you want to get back to the top of the page. You can do this by selecting the underlined word 'Top' on the right hand side of the page.
Re-tracing your steps
When you click on pages within CareOnline you will see the names of the pages you have visited (under the green banner at the top of the page). You will notice that the last word in the row is in black and is the name of the page you are on. The other words are underlined and show the pages you have come from. You can click on one of these underlined links to go back to a previous page. This feature is sometimes referred to as a "breadcrumb trail" and looks like this example:
Home - Disability Organisation
Within the green banner, in the top right-hand corner if you select the oval picture of Leicestershire CareOnline you will be taken back to the beginning of Leicestershire CareOnline, this is also known as the Home page.
When visiting an external website, we have made it easier for you to get back to Leicestershire CareOnLine by opening the external website in a new explorer window. To close an opened 'window' click on the symbol, top right corner.
Searching for information
A-Z Search.
The A-Z Search button lists keywords contained within CareOnLine alphabetically e.g. Benefits, Learning Disabilities etc.
Word Search.
The most flexible is the Word Search box. Type in a word or words (for example 'holidays' or 'disabled holidays') and press 'GO'. It will show you all entries on the site containing your words (it may bring up quite a few suggestions so you need to go through them all to see which are relevant). You can then click on the links to see more detail.
